Max Kaleoff''s blog

For my class we are supposed to comment about one of Max Kalehoff’s blogs. One of his blogs that I took interest to was titled "Great marketing comes with a smile". Everything he wrote is very true. He wrote "Smiling is one of the most powerful methods of conveying thoughts, moods, feelings and emotions" and then he relates it to marketing and and why smiling isnt seen as a fudamental value when dealing with doing business. He makes a good point because smiling is a very important thing to get someones attention, sell a product or idea and impress someone. He then listed the reasons for smiling which I thought was interesting to read. He said that happiness comes from smiling and it really does help in that way I think. I really enjoyed reading this blog of his and many others.

Madonna Hard Candy Tour

Being that I am a huge Madonna fan I am very excited to have heard that she is touring again this summer and fall!!!!!! Last time around I couldnt find someone to buy tickets with me because they were pretty expensive, but this time around one of my best friends Ali said shes gonna go with me. I have been wanting to see her in concert for so long!! I know tickets will be expensive because I dont want to be high up I want pretty good seats but it is totally worth it to me. Madonna just came out with a new cd. I downloaded a few of her songs allready but I am going to buy the cd this week because it isnt the same unless I acutally have the cd. I love the 4 minutes song but the others are okay that I have heard so far. Its called Hard Candy. It's definately not going to be as good as Confessions on a dancefloor.

Here is the website about her concert and everything if anyone else is a madonna fan!

social networking!

For internet marketing I found another article that I thought was really interesting. It is about kids who are so addicted to social networking sites and its a big part of their life. Personally, Ive gone weeks without going online and stuff but after a while you get the urge to want check your email or facebook. But these kids in the article have become so obsessed with these social networking sites that its a problem. Its crazy how times have changed. When we and our parent were younger computers were just being introduced, werent popular and we actaully played outside and interacted face to face with people. Now, its all about the internet. I thought it was interesting to read that older boys who use social networking were more than twice as likely as older girls to say they use the sites to flirt — 29% of older boys, compared with 13% of older girls. There are alot of other interesting things in the article check it out..

Flyleaf

hey guys! before i post about my blog topic i wanted to tell all u guys to go to one of my favorite websites, VQUZESHUF

So anyways...for this post I'm gonna talk about one of my favorite bands at the moment..Flyleaf..im sure you know some of their singles...im so sick, fully alive, and their newest all around me. but seriously their album titled *Flyleaf * is amazing. if u like their singles you will love the rest of the album. My favorite songs on the album are cassie and all around me. I really hope they come out with a new cd soon. I am dying to see them in concert also. My brother has seen them a bunch of times and said they are great. I just love the rock music with a girl as lead singer. like evanescence also. great group.

I thought it was interesting that I read that the lead singer Lacey said..

"I used to be in a really negative band, and that seemed to almost fuel my emptiness because that's what the songs were about," says charismatic singer Lacey Mosley. "That's why I think what we're doing is important because there needs to be something heavy out there that has a positive message so people see that it's possible to get through the worst situations."

If you dont know who they are or want to listen to some of their songs go here...Flyleaf

madonnnaa

ok so i am pretty much obsessed with the new Madonna & Justin Timberlake song "4 minutes to save the world". Jt is ok but i love love love madonna. She is one of my favorites. I love her latest cd *Confessions on a dancefloor* She has so many songs over the years that i have loved and and i am dying to see her in concert! I know a lot of people are like omg how can you like her shes so old now shes in her 40's. well who cares. she still sounds awsome, looks great and is still making music. Ya i willk admit her older stuff is better like "like a prayer" and "papa dont preach" but i really like her new stuff too. the confessions on a dancefloor cd had such a new sound to it, they were all fast songs and i loved it.

also for my internet marketing class we are conducting an experiment with google and the word VQUZESHUF so you will see it popping up through my next couple posts :-)

"Could social networking sites save the music industry"?

This is another post having to do with my internet marketing class group topic, social networking. I found another article which is about social networking and my blog topic music. It is titled "Could social networking sites save the music industry?" I thought it was really interesting and wanted to share it with everyone. Basically it is about some of the websites out today and how they are trying to get the young people away from file sharing networkings that dont bother with legal liscenses. It talks about Imeem and Bebo which are websites where you can share music, videos, make profiles and communicate with others. The article said how people from the ages of 15-25 nowadays need their peers to validate their musical tastes and even like to share any music they have created on their own because they all want to randomly get discovered. It is a great way to listen to music, hear about new people and their music and maybe indeed it is saving the music industry in many ways. My cousin has a really good voice and I tell her all the time to record something and put it up on myspace or youtube. she says she wants to make a tape though and bring it into nyc and try to get auditions and things. However, i think these sites are really good and theres nothing to loose by putting up your own music. Anways, here is the article...

Tpain?....um no

Ok so I know a lot of you are probably going to the Neo and Tpain concert on April 11th i think?...but i am not going. i think it is going to be terrible! they both have their radio hits and some of them are good but rap concerts are known to not be that good. i mean cmon if you are gonna go to a concert atleast go to one where someone is playing an instrument or see a band. i dont know just my opinion. dont get me wrong i like some of their songs but i wish they had someone better coming to the school. if anyone is interested billy joel is playing at mohegan sun on july 3rd. Im a big fan of his and im thinking about getting tickets but they are pretty expensive. if your interested check it out on ticketmaster when you type his name in. I was supposed to see Elton John last year with my family but I couldn't because I think it was like the night of one of my finals though and I was so mad. I want to see a concert Billy Joel and Elton john together so bad. ive heard its amazing.

Another social networking article

I found a second website about social networking that I thought was interesting. It is about a social networking music site called Qloud. It looks really interesting. It is a music search service which has social features. It is connected to other site such as facebook and friendster. You can look for artists, songs, keywords, styles and many other things. You can create your own personal site and put the music that you like up. You can also request friends on there, see what music they like and recommend. It is connected with Itunes. The article says that it keeps growing and new features are going to come out on the site. I think its really interesting and I am definately going to go to that website and check out how it is connected to social networks.

Here is the article if anyone wants to read it

So i was reading through articles on aol music because I like to go on there a lot and there was a section called embarrasing onstage antics. They describe all embarrasing things that happened to performers in the past while on stage at a concert. I thought it was interesting because I only knew about a few of them and wanted to share it. Ill list them from 15 down to 1, 1 being the most embarrasing..So here goes..

15. in 1997 when U2 was on their Popmart tour, the band's 40-foot lemon-shaped pod malfunctioned, trapping the band inside.

14. At Woodstock '94, Green Day started an mud-fight with the audience. With the stage filled with mud covered fans, bassist Mike Dirnt was mistaken for a trespasser by a security guard, who fought the musician, knocking out several teeth.

13. In 1977, Fleetwood Mac celebrated their status as the world's biggest band by having a 70-foot penguin into their act. However, "It would never fully inflate," said Lindsey Buckingham. "This thing was limping and floundering at the back of the stage."

12. The Who's Keith Moon rigged an explosion during a 1967 television appearance. More powerful than planned, it propelled the drum kit and Daltrey airborne, and may have even triggered Pete Townshend's hearng troubles.

11. Singers forget lyrics all the time, but preferably not in front of the President. During a Kennedy Center tribute to Dolly Parton, Jessica Simpson abruptly stopped in the middle '9 to 5.' "Dolly, that made me so nervous," she blurted before running offstage.

10. Alice Cooper "retired" the huge snake used in his show for decades after an incident in Los Angeles during which the snake pooped all over him. Cooper later told Rolling Stone. "My whole stage costume was covered, and it smelled so bad I was gagging."

9. David Bowie has dodged his share of roses and beer cans in concert, but he surely never anticipated what would force him to leave the stage 20 minutes into a 2004 Oslo show. The Thin White Duke was hit with the thin white stick from a lollipop, hurled by a fan, which lodged inside his left eyelid. It was the same eye that he injured in a schoolboy fight with a classmate, a trauma that left the eye permanently dilated.

8.The Rolling Stones massive 1969 concert in London's Hyde Park became a tribute to their fallen mate Brian Jones, who was discovered at the bottom of his swimming pool two days before the gig. Mick Jagger dressed in white, and read from Shelley's elegiac 'Adonais' before releasing thousands of butterflies -- most of which were already dead.

7. During one of Neil Young's appearances, the oblivious singer had a gob of cocaine clearly lodged in a nostril. It later had to be editied out of their concert film.

6. Sean "Diddy" Combs tried to pull a page from the grunge playbook when he attempted a stage dive at a tony nightclub in Ibiza, Spain, in 2005. Instead of catching the rapper and hip-hop impresario, fans moved away, and Diddy slammed to the floor. Gamely, he hobbled back onstage.

5. Ozzy Osbourne was on the receiving end of a somewhat less fondly remembered stunt on his 'Diary of a Madman' tour. A giant catapult designed to look like a hand was set up to fling raw calves' livers and pig intestines into the audience in a kind of ritual baptism-by-butcher's-offal. At one gig, the slaughter fell far short of its destination, landing on ... Ozzy's head.

4. Onstage in Mansfield, Massachusetts, in 2004, Cyndi Lauper threw her head back to hit a high note and took a direct hit from a defecating bird flying overhead. The singer wiped her mouth on her sleeve and went on singing. Later, she denied reports that the poop had landed in her mouth: "It went on my lower lip. I could not taste it ... I actually considered it a good-luck sign."

3. Nirvana's Krist Novoselic put himself in harm's way during the 1992 taping of the MTV VMAs. Near the end of the song 'Lithium,' Novoselic tossed his bass in the air. The guitar hit him on his head, and the dazed musician stumbled offstage as his mates trashed their own instruments.

2. Ashlee Simpson was exposed on 'SNL' when the wrong recording of her vocals was triggered. Simpson fled, but tried to stomp out her embarrassment with a hoedown.

1. Black Eyed Peas memeber Fergie peed her pants during a concert. She had a huge wet spot on her crotch. Her publicist claimed the stain was just "sweat," but Fergie actually confessed that she'd had a few drinks and "didn't think to go to the bathroom" before the show. "We were jumping around ... it was all very rock 'n' roll. And my bladder just started ... you know."

social networking and music

My group in class has the topic of social networking and I found this really interesting article. I thought it was good to show in my blog because it ties in with my blog topic of music as well. Here is the article for everyone to read.. http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/news/2005/05/67545

The article is titled "Bands Embrace Social Networking". Basically, it is about how bands are loving all of the social network websites out today such as Myspace because they are allowing people all over to listen to their music, become fans and help them one day to maybe become famous. I thought it was interesting to read that more than 240,000 artists all over are using MySpace to market themselves and become big. It said how My Chemical Romance was actually one of these bands who got popular through myspace.

I don't go on myspace as frequent as facebook or some other sites but whenever I sign in I always have random requests from different bands or artists who are trying to build up their fan base and get people to listen to their music. I think it is a great way to hear all different types of music and see what else is out there besides all the same stuff you hear on the radio a million times a day. Even big artists and bands have myspace pages. You can even link in their song to your profile so that whoever views your own myspace page can hear their music. Like the article said, I think it is a great way for people to keep up to date on which ever bands they are into about upcoming concerts, new albums or even just listen to their music on the page whenever they want. Band memebers even respond to their fans through comments which is how the whole social networking aspect comes in. I am sure the big big artists out there dont go on myspace to comment people who like their music but I know that a lotI of others do.

I couldnt believe when I read that their are more than 15 million people signed up on myspace. It really is a great way for bands to get recognized because so many people use the site.

The 2008 Grammys

The grammys were on last night. I watched them and I don't know how everyone else felt but I was kind of disappointed with them. My favorite performance of the night was definately the Foo Fighters. I really like them and Im glad that they won best rock album because I had either wanted them or Daughtry to win. Alicia Keyes was good too and she won a grammy for something. However I am not too big on her music because I feel like all her songs are overplayed and get annoying. Kanye had a pretty emotional performance because he sang about his mother who died recently. He also won a grammy for best rap album. I was suprised that he didn't win best album of the year because that is who everyone thought was going to win. Some guy I dont even know ended up winning. Rhianna also performed and I felt she did a pretty good job.

I really dont understand how Amy Winehouse won so many grammys and especially best record. Everyone I know doesn't really like her. Seriously I cant believe she won over the Foo Fighters? I don't understand that. She didnt even know what to say during her speech because she is on so many drugs. Brad Paisley performed and I changed that channel for that one haha.

I posted some pictures from the grammys for anyone who missed it and is interested.

Love music

Hey everyone. I'm Sarah. My blog is going to about music that is out today that I like, news and gossip about different artists, and future concerts in CT and NY. I am pretty much obsessed with music and I really like going to concerts so this is a great topic for me to write about. I like all different types of music, except country which really gets on my nerves. Some of the best concerts I've been to were Linkin Park, Evanescence, Hoobastank, and Goo Goo Dolls, which are some of my favorite bands. I am really into Linkin Park and I like their new cd, Minutes to Midnight. However, I think their earlier cds were definately better. If anybody is interested, Linkin Park is playing at Madison Square Gardent on Feb 21st. You can find all the information about it on ticketmaster.com if you search Linkin Park. I think there are still some tickets left, but I am not positive.

To switch over and talk about some popular music out right now...I am very suprised at how Britney Spears keeps coming out with all these new songs and is still a popular artist after all the drama going on in her life and her being a drug addict. I feel like nowadays the news revolves aroud her and its getting really annoying. Enough is enough and I am sure there is much more important news that they could be reporting about instead of what color hair Britney has this week or what store she is at. I am also suprised at what a phenomenon Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana has become. Girls are obsessed with her music and her show. I was shocked to hear at how much parents were paying for their children to go to her concert and I can't believe how quickly they sold out.

The grammys are coming up soon on February 10th which I always like to watch. Some of the artists that are nominated are beyonce, rhianna, foo fighters, justin timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Daughtry, Christina Aguilera, Kanye west and Amy Winehouse. I am very suprised that Amy Winehouse is actually up for awards. I'm not very impressed with her music and I am suprised she has done as well as she has. I hope Daughtry wins a grammy. I think they are really good and I really like their cd.

Well thats all for now..Thanks for reading

P.S. I added linkin parks website as my link if anyone likes them.
